Went to our land on 30 August 2009 and find out the pipes have been installed.

Ready to Roll!!

We have received our building approval from Wyndham Council on 29 July 2009 to raise our ceiling to 2740mm! Yay!! Now we can apply for the Building Permit. Hope it doesn't take too long to get the permit...

On the 5th of August 2009, we called up our CSO and she said that she has submitted the Building Permit application on the 3rd of August 2009. The permit process should take around 5-10 days. **Finger crossed**

Finally!! We signed the Final Drawing on 11 August 2009!! And at the same time, Building permit has been issued by the Wyndham City Council!! NICE... Now we are ready to ROLL... =)

Here is the floorplan for Galley 23

Our CSC told us that the construction file will be handed to the Site Supervisor on the 14 August 2009. Then within 2 weeks, we have been told that we can expect some activity going on to our land!

When we visit our land on the 23 August 2009, our land get flattened!!

More to come... Still digging out from memory... Should have start the blog earlier!! =(

Tile & Colour Selection

After we put down the $1k deposit, we have been booked for Colour and Tile appointment on 22nd September 2008. So in 3 weeks time, we need to come up with some colour and tile combination for our house!! 3 weeks is not a long time! We need to use our time as wisely as possible..

At first, we are really struggled to find out what colour and tiles are available. But luckily, during weekend, both Hopetoun and National Tiles are open for public (we didn't know about this before). Therefore, for every single weekend, the only trip that we made is went to these 2 places, and spend lots lots of hours to find out the best colour and tiles combination. It looks like a puzzle that stressed us out because if we chose wrong combination, then our house would look horrible and the worst of all, we might stuck with those colour for at least a few year... Not an easy task!

I might upload the photo of our colour selection (if I could find one..) *finger crossed*

Builder decided!

By having these 6 builders in mind, it's surely too much to consider.. Therefore the next step is to narrow them down to 2 or 3 builders only.. Below is a few quick step that we took to narrow them down:
  • Went to each builders' display house and watch closely for the quality of their display house. If they don't really care to put a high quality display house, then quality of your future house wouldn't be much different from it...
  • Asked for a rough sales quotation based on the engineering plan for the block. (Make sure the site cost and the estate covenant are included!)
  • List all the inclusion and the current promotion that they currently have (if any)
  • Find out whether your CSC is helpful and give you some advise by asking them a few question. This will determine your first impression of the builder
  • Make sure the sales quotation is still within your budget!
After 2 whole months struggling with the builder, finally it comes to a conclusion...
The winner that catch our attention is..................

Galley 23 from PLACES HOMES

A few reason why we chose to go ahead with this builder as follows: open space floor plan, fixed site cost, pretty good display house & inclusion and pretty good customer service too (so far!)...

Finally, on the 31st of August 2008, we went to the Places Homes office to put down $1k deposit and signed a few document (all inclusion list, fixed price cost document, etc etc)
